Those are my before & after pictures featured in this month's issue of Woman's Day Magazine. Of course, the 1st picture is of me in September at the beginning of the WD Slimdown with Joy Bauer and the 2nd picture is of me at the beginning of December. I'm happy because you can clearly see that my body has improved since the beginning of the Slimdown. I owe so much to Joy Bauer, Woman's Day Magazine & my fellow Slimdowners for helping me improve my health. If you haven't picked up our "reveal" issue of Woman's Day, please do so right away. If you have seen the issue, then you know that my goal is to get down to 199 pounds. I say 199 because it's been SO long since I've been under 200 pounds. So that's my goal & I've got to stick to the Slimdown to reach it.

I've already gotten several positive reviews from people who've seen me in Woman's Day & that goes a long way towards keeping me motivated to recommit to my goal of losing this weight. I haven't been working out as much as I should though. I need to get back to working out with my trainer at the New York Health & Racquet Club. I normally do that right after work in the mornings, but it's so hard to convince myself to head to the gym at 5am when it's freezing & there's so much snow on the ground. I have to get past that mental block because that's a big hurdle for me. In either case, I have a gym in my apartment building, so there's really NO excuse not to exercise. I've got to get better. And that's a goal I've set for myself this week...to workout every single day. Whether it's on the treadmill, walking outside, yoga or whatever, I plan to workout each day this week. I'd also like to find a workout buddy here in Hoboken. It's difficult to find a workout buddy with a similar schedule to mine, but I'm gonna work on it. I'll do 30 minutes on the treadmill today for exercise.

As for eating, I'm still following the eating plan from Joy Bauer's book "Your Inner Skinny: Four Steps To Thin Forever." This morning, I had fiber cereal with raisins for breakfast. My snack was one ounce of string cheese with 10 almonds. I'll most likely have the Open-Faced Toasted Tomato and Cheese Sandwich for lunch. For dinner, I'll have the Skinny Dinner Salad and the Grilled Cheddar Turkey Burger with Sauteed Mushrooms. And of course, I'm drinking lots of water.


Pounds lost so far: To be honest, I'm not quite sure where I am this week weight wise, But I'll be sure to weigh myself at the beginning of next week & tell you then.

That's me with my friends Jonathan & Justin, who helped me celebrate my birthday last Monday. I've been doing some serious partying the last couple of weeks. And that's saying something since I'm not a serious party person. But I've had SO much fun! I hope you're also having a blast this holiday season. Hope you had a very Merry Christmas :-)

I also had a really nice kickoff to my vacation by having lunch on my birthday with the very awesome Joy Bauer! She's just delightful & so nice to talk to. I've already lost 17 pounds on the WD Slimdown with Joy Bauer, so I'm super excited to see how much more weight I lose on the Slimdown in the New Year! If your goal is to lose weight for the New Year or even just to eat healthier, please continue to follow me & the rest of the Slimdowners right here on Woman's Day Magazine's website because we'll keep sharing with you our successes & experiences. It'll be good motivation. Let's do it together! I was really happy to have lunch with Joy for another reason...I was really interested in seeing how she ordered healthy foods & made healthy substitutes in a restaurant setting. It sometimes feels so hard to stick to a healthy eating plan when you're out at a restaurant with friends, so I really benefited from seeing how Joy orders. For herself, she ordered the Caesar salad with the dressing on the side. It was a huge salad, so Joy took part of it home with her. For me, she suggested the vegetarian chili as an appetizer & an egg white omelette loaded with vegetables & a little cheese...CLICK THROUGH TO SEE MY FOOD PICS & MY PICS FROM THIS WEEKEND'S BLIZZARD!

Happy Friday! My apologies for being such a stranger, but last week was just crazy busy for me. This time last Friday, I was headed into The City to get my makeup done in preparation for Z100's Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden that night. Here's a picture of me behind the stage before I went on to introduce B.O.B.'s performance.

I'm very happy with that picture because it proves to me that although I haven't been perfect on the WD Slimdown with Joy Bauer, I have made significant progress. I actually have a waistline again because of the Slimdown! Here's another picture of me backstage at the show with one of our other performers, Katy Perry!

It was a really exciting & fun show! I gave Joy Bauer tickets for her & her kids. I even got the chance to meet Joy's kids at the show & they are absolutely gorgeous! Fun times. Wow, we're in the full swing of the holiday season aren't we?! I've been invited to so many holiday parties. The crew that works out in the morning at my gym, The New York Health & Racquet Club, has an annual holiday party. I've been invited to that. I've also been invited to a comedy show tonight. Seeing live comedy is one of my favorite pastimes, so I'm super excited about that! Saturday, I just plan to relax...maybe do some holiday shopping since I haven't done any at all. I forgot to mention that I'm officially on vacation for the rest of the year, so Sunday, I'm gonna super relax! Monday's my birthday, so Joy Bauer will be taking me to lunch. I can't wait to see where she takes me & what kind of healthy meal she'll suggest for me. Monday night, my friend DJ Journey has a party he's doing at the W Hotel, so I plan to celebrate my birthday with him there. Should be lots of fun. The challenge over the holiday season is to balance indulging in the treats of the season without going overboard. My sister's already baking Neiman Marcus cookies for me this weekend to send me for my birthday. I'm gonna really have to work hard at the gym to make up for those, lol! Happy Friday! It was a pretty good week back to work for me. I had some pretty good shows on the radio. I also made another appearance on CNN's "Showbiz" Tonight" on HLN to talk to hosts AJ Hammer & Brooke Anderson about the latest entertainment news, including Christina Aguilera speaking out on her divorce & whether Lindsay Lohan & Todd Palin should appear on the next season of "Dancing With The Stars." And my friend Robyn helped me pick out a fabulous outfit for Z100's Jingle Ball concert, which is a week from today. I'm so super excited! I also went to a fabulous show that Flo Rida performed for Z100 in Tribeca Wednesday night. It was such a fun & amazing show. I visited him backstage afterwards...

Last Friday when I reported that I gained 3 pounds, I thought that it was only because I had lots of glasses of wine during my vacation & because I indulged a little too much for Thanksgiving. But I was really relieved to realize that the extra weight gain also came from me being bloated because of that time of the month. I that's t.m.i., but that really affects weight fluctuation each month for us ladies. But I'm happy to report this week that I've lost 2 of the 3 pounds I gained. And I know that I'll have even more success to report next week since I'm now on Joy Bauer's Turkey Day Detox. I feel good. And aside from the small hormonal acne that I get once a month, my skin is really smooth & glowing from doing the detox.

I don't really have any huge plans this weekend. It's gonna be really cold here in the NYC area, so I wanted to just stay inside, relax & clean the apartment. But I just got a call from one of my very close friends, Nicole. I use to be her nanny when I was in my late teens & early 20s before I decided what career path I wanted to take. Anyway, Nicole just graduated from Columbia University earlier this year & she'll be back in town this weekend for a visit, so I'll be hanging out with her. Other than that, not much going on here. Hi there! I hope your Thanksgiving was full of happiness & good eating! I took the entire week off for vacation, so it was an absolutely fabulous week for me! I was able to party one night without worrying about having to leave the party to go to work. I also indulged in quite a bit of wine & woke up the next morning with the worst headache ever! But it was my vacation, so I was okay with it! I spent Thanksgiving with a friend & his family in Connecticut.

We normally weigh ourselves on Fridays for the Slimdown, but I didn't bother with any of the usual formalities during my vacation. So I finally jumped on the scale this morning & was not surprised to find out that all of my my vacation week & Thanksgiving day indulgences helped me pack on 3 pounds. Yep, I fell WAY off the wagon. Lucky for me, Joy Bauer has a Turkey Day Detox that I can follow for 3 days to help me lose the extra pounds from Thanksgiving! I was on Facebook this morning & came across a picture that my friend & New Times bestselling Author Kelly E. Carter posted of me from Spring 2009. After gaining 3 pounds last week, seeing that picture was just the pick me up & motivation I needed this morning because it reminded me of the progress I've made with my weight loss in the last year...

Above, I'm pictured with my friend, PR Exec & Event Planner Sharon Lopez. We were at Kelly's going away party as she made the move from NYC to Los Angeles. The bottom picture is of me at a party about a month ago. As you can see in my face, I've really lost some weight in the last year. That proves to me that even though I may have slip ups now & then, I'm losing the weight slowly but surely. I figure that by Summer 2011, I'll be at a weight I'm happy with. And the WD Slimdown with Joy Bauer is helping me get to that goal!

If you read my blog post Monday, then you know that I started off the week feeling a little discouraged about my lack of sleep. Now I can't say that my sleep was fabulous for the rest of the week, but it did get slightly better. And happily, I have to say that I'm ending the week feeling very ENcouraged...total opposite from what I felt at the beginning of the week. My energy level was considerably higher this week. My workout sessions with my trainer David Munoz at The New York Health & Racquet Club went really well. I got lots of cardio & toning in. I feel like all the working out & following Joy Bauer's eating plan are really paying off in how energetic I've felt all week. Aside from FEELING a positive difference, I'm also SEEING a positive difference. New pants that I bought about a month ago are already getting loose on me. Btw, my friend Keven invited me out to hang with friends earlier in the week & actor Leon was there...

I found it hilarious that of all the many movies he's starred in, I asked him about his starring role in Madonna's "Like A Prayer" video! In my defense though, that's an iconic music video, one of THE most memorable music videos in history. He was a good sport though & told me about his experience doing the video. Leon's latest project is called "Diary of a Single Mom" & you can watch Season 3 by CLICKING HERE! Btw, my two sisters LOVE Leon, so I showed them the picture I took with him. Aside from screaming about how sexy he is, my sister also commented that my skin was glowing in the picture. I have to say that I owe my glowing skin to the Woman's Day Slimdown with Joy Bauer & all the workouts I've been doing at the gym!

Wow, it's been one of those days that I can't get the proper sleep I need. I try not to get too frustrated, but it's hard when you have to get other things done, but can't get them done properly with no sleep. I worked all night last night, then thought I'd come home & go right to sleep since I didn't have to workout with my trainer. No such luck. I was wide awake & it was complete daylight outside. I ended playing around on Facebook & watching TV until I finally got sleepy around 12:30pm. I was so excited to finally get some sleep, but I was awake again in the 2pm hour. Less than 2 hours of sleep. I really tried. I had my sound machine on, my eye mask on and all. I tried to go back to sleep, but couldn't. So I've been up since then. It's around 5:40pm now. I feel a little sleepy, but I've got so much I need to do. I'm washing clothes now, I need to clean the kitchen, living room & dining room. In addition to this blog, I need to do another blog. I need to pay my bills. I'm gonna try going back to sleep for a few hours before work tonight after I get some of that done. In hindsight, instead of waiting around until I got sleepy, I should have gone down to the gym to get a workout. That probably would have made me tired enough to sleep. I have a session scheduled with my trainer in the morning after work. I did manage to get some food in my body today...

I had cereal for breakfast & that Open Faced Tuna Melt for lunch. I still need to figure out what I'll take to eat at work tonight. I have a feeling that this week will continue to be a difficult one on the sleep front. I've got a couple of events & meetings to go to during the daytime, which always cut into my sleep. But I'll do my best to keep my head up & to keep taking care of myself as much as can be expected with lack of sleep. I'll keep you posted when I blog again on Friday. Luckily I have some vacation time next week, so I suspect I'll be getting some good sleep in then! Hope you have a wonderful week.

Hi there. I hope you've had a wonderful week. I feel like I've spent so much of the week just sleeping. For some reason, I've been SO exhausted. So I've just been sleeping & working. And to be quite honest, I'm looking forward to just sleeping all weekend, lol. I just woke up a few minutes ago & noticed that it's an absolutely gorgeous day outside! So gorgeous, that I feel guilty for not being out there taking advantage of it. It's 61 degrees, abundant sunshine & not a cloud in the sky. But I'm just so tired, I just feel like staying inside. Boring, I know.

Anyway, I realized that in the midst of my sleeping, I hadn't checked in with you. So I got up, stepped on the scale & discovered the sucky news that I've gained a pound this week. It's sucky, but not surprising. I was sick all last week, so I didn't workout. And this week, I've spent so much time sleeping, that I haven't gotten many of my meals in. So I'm not surprised at the gain. But I'm not gonna let it get me down, I'm just gonna keep it moving forward. One good thing I've noticed is that apart from what I see on the scale, I can really tell in my face that I've lost weight. Check out this pic I took last weekend...

My cheeks aren't as chubby as they normally are. Now don't get me wrong, I like chubby cheeks. Whenever I see them on a baby or a kid, I just wanna pinch their cheeks cuz they're so adorable! But one of the side affects of losing weight is loosing some of my chubby cheeks. So there's that. I hope you have a great weekend & hopefully by this time next week, I'll be reporting that I've lost a few pounds instead of gaining. Until then, take care of yourself.

We are now 40 days away from Z100'S Jingle 2010. I'm counting down to the show by blogging about my efforts to get into shape in time for the show. And this young lady is a big part of my healthy efforts to get in shape:

That's right, I finally got a chance to meet Joy Bauer face to face! And she's even more gorgeous in person! Joy told me that her 3 kids were super excited that she was visiting me at Z100 that day. They also told her they wanted to go to Z100's Jingle Ball because they listen to the station all the time! We'll have to see about getting them tickets ;-) I invited Joy to the station to talk about the Woman's Day Magazine Slimdown & to give our listeners insight into what they can do to improve their healthy lifestyle as well. I'll try to have the interview posted here on the blog by the end of the week, so please check back.

I've caught a cold again...the 2nd time I've been sick in the last month. I'm sure my immune system is weaker since I don't get nearly as much sleep as I should. I ended up canceling my workout session with my trainer because I'm not feeling so well. Hopefully I'll feel better by our next session Wednesday. I also know that if my sleep were more consistent, my weight would be coming off faster. But I'm not in a race, so I'm happy that the pounds are coming off regardless. I lost another 2.8 pounds this past week, yay me! So I'm just trying to take it easy to feel better & preparing for the week ahead. Before I started blogging a few minutes ago, I just seasoned & weighed out all my proteins for the week...chicken breast, ground turkey breast & salmon. Here's to a fabulous week for us all...cheers!
